Somolu youths had the rare opportunity of learning programming for free, courtesy of Hon. Abdulhamed Salawu, The Executive Chairman of Somolu LG. The theme of the workshop is GoTech With SoTech.

It was a day filled with so much anticipation and uncertainty prior to the start of day 01 out of 3 days ICT workshop held inside NUT Hall, Agunbiade Primary School. Bit by bit, pre-registered and unregistered participants arrived at the venue to learn programming. 

The program started with the invitation of the distinguished guest to the high table, then it was followed by recitation of Nigeria National Anthem followed by the second stanza as the opening prayer. 

Hon Abdulhamed Salawu, The executive Chairman of Somolu LG who was ably represented by the H.O.D of Agric & Youth Department, Hon. Hector Ayo Coker. Also in attendance was The Chairperson of Somolu LG, Hon. Mariam Salawu, other distinguished dignitaries were Hon. Adeeso Sodiq, Senior Special Adviser on Education, Somolu Local Government. Hon. Oluwatosin Taiwo Odubanjo, Supervisor for ICT, Somolu LG. Lastly, Hon. Kola Muhammed, Special Adviser on ICT to The Executive Chairman, Somolu LG.

Hon. Abdulhamed Salawu declared the workshop open and urged the participants to take full opportunity presented to them by learning and being useful youths. He promised to give further support to the ICT / Tech requirements of deserving youths. He added that the workshop is in line with the THEMES Agenda of Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu.

After the declaration, the facilitator of day 01, Mr. Abbas Yinka Joda, a proficient software engineer/developer trained over 35 youths.

Media houses like TVC, Ibrand TV and Ms. Busola Kukoyi of LTV8 were available to add  color and content to the workshop via their coverage and special interview sessions to dignitaries, facilitators and some participant. Ms. Busola a veteran broadcaster anchored the program to the delight of everyone present.

The workshop continues on day 2, 23 November 2022 with UI/UX Design.
